Supporting Small Businesses in Rutherford County
The Supporting Small Business Project will meet the entrepreneurial interests of works laid off from plants in Spindale, Rutherfordton, Cliffside, Forest City, and Harris, as well as several smaller industries and related businesses serving these towns in Rutherford County. The large job loss has had a dramatic effect on a community historically dependent on manufacturing industries for their livelihoods.
The overall purpose of this grant, funded by NAD Bank, will allow NC REAL, in conjunction with Isothermal Community College in Spindale and Foothills Connect Business Telecenter in Rutherfordton, and ConnectInc. to build capacity to support the increased demand for entrepreneurial and small business development training brought about by area plant closings.
