REAL Trains Survivors of the Tsunami in Thailand

REAL Trains Survivors of the Tsunami in Thailand

REAL Entrepreneurship has been used with survivors of the December 26 tsunami that disrupted or destroyed the lives and businesses of tens of thousands of people in southern Thailand. To assist the medium-term recovery of these people, KIAsia organized its Tsunami Recovery Action Initiative (TRAI). This program focuses on the recovery of small businesses and the restoration of livelihoods devastated by the disaster. KIAsia used the REAL Entrepreneurship curriculum and training materials to help both existing and would-be entrepreneurs plan and start businesses. Those who completed the program have begun planning ways to become self-sufficient once again. Training sessions held at the main refugee shelters in Phang-gna province were highly successful, helping survivors focus their thoughts on a promising future rather than the recent tragedy.
