REAL Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneurship Training

The BioNetwork BioBusiness Center and NC REAL are proud to sponsor training in the new REAL Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneurship Curriculum

The training will be held at The BioNetwork BioBusiness Center located at AB Tech from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM on May 11, 2010 in Room 128 of the Hayes Conference Center at the AB Tech campus in Enka. Lunch will be provided.

This training is open to REAL certified facilitators and REAL coordinators in western North Carolina. The sponsors are providing this training at no charge to attendees if they agree to provide feedback on the materials. Future offerings will be priced at $450, and all facilitators must attend the training prior to offering this new program.

All attending certified REAL facilitators will receive a copy of the new REAL Sustainable Agriculture Entrepreneurship Course Guide, which includes:

Course Outlines

  • Program Planning Checklist
  • Facilitator Notes
  • New Ag Activities such as Farm Ventures, Kidd’s Goats, Selling at the Farmer’s Market, Doubling Delbert’s Vegetables, and Country Roads Natural Produce
  • Extensive Resource Guide

The training agenda will include following topics:

  • Review of and participation in new Sustainable Agriculture activities
  • Building the support team (Cooperative Extension, BioBusiness Center, NCDA, local resources, etc.)
  • Publicizing the program
  • Recruiting Students
  • Course/Lesson Planning (Continuing Education or BUS 280)
  • Guest Speakers
  • Using existing tools and resources
  • Adapting the course to meet the needs of your participants

Please register by Thursday May 6, 2010. Both facilitators and those coordinating the REAL program are encouraged to attend.
