JOB DESCRIPTION

North Carolina Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning (NC REAL) is a 501© (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to develop entrepreneurial talent and foster the creation of sustainable enterprises throughout North Carolina, with a special emphasis on rural communities. NC REAL works closely with North Carolina’s Community College System to deliver its services and curriculum to the state’s 100 counties. PROJECT COORDINATOR POSITION

NC REAL is seeking a Project Coordinator to coordinate the Rural Home Healthcare Self-Employment Project, to assist in the implementation of additional REAL projects, primarily in Eastern North Carolina; and to assist NC REAL staff in the delivery of its core program activities. This is a 30 hours a week, grant-funded position. The Project Coordinator will primarily work out of a home office.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

1. COORDINATE THE RURAL HOME HEALTHCARE SELF-EMPLOYMENT PROJECT
This is a program to help those who complete healthcare degree and certificate programs to create sustainable healthcare business enterprises within their communities. The Project Coordinator will collaborate with partners from five selected community colleges to achieve the objectives outlined in the grant project. Specifically the Project Coordinator will:
• Implement the application process for rural NC Community Colleges who wish to be selected to participate in the project;
• Assist NC REAL staff to provide training in the curriculum to selected participants;
• Provide site support and technical assistance to community college sites offering the curriculum course;
• Coordinate site facilitator meetings to build strong relationships among the entrepreneurship network;
• Collect evaluation data; and
• Provide a written summary of the project outcomes.

2. ASSIST IN THE COORDINATION OF NC REAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROJECTS
• The Regional Ag-Entrepreneur Development Initiative
This is a program designed to develop entrepreneurial skills among farmers in the Upper Coastal Plain Region. The Coordinator will assist NC REAL staff to market the program through NC REAL’s statewide network of partners and expand training opportunities to more farmers.

• Project GATE (Growing America through Entrepreneurship)
This is a program to assist dislocated workers to understand how to start small business enterprises which ultimately create new jobs in their communities. The Coordinator will provide assistance to sites participating in the project.

3. ASSIST NC REAL STAFF TO DELIVER CORE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES
• Provide site support to REAL facilitators in Eastern North Carolina;
• Assist with REAL facilitator trainings as requested;
• Assist with development of REAL curriculum materials,
• Participate with staff on program and grant development teams

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

• Excellent communication including oral, electronic and written;
• Strong organizational skills to manage information and time;
• Ability to work independently from a home office;
• Successful project or program management experience; and
• A Bachelor’s degree.

Additional experience helpful in this position includes:

• Home healthcare experience
• Grant writing experience
• Entrepreneurship knowledge or experience
• Nonprofit experience
• Successful teaching or facilitation experience

The Project Coordinator will work from a home office for 30 hours per week. Some travel is integral to the position; including some evening meetings.
