1. Business Use of Your Home

This course focuses on the tax implications of using your home as your business headquarters. An explanation of the IRS definition of a home-based business, common exceptions, and forms used to report income, expenses, and deductions is provided. In depth instruction on deduction and depreciation gives the home-based business owner the tools to calculate direct and indirect business expenses and ways to recover business expenses through appropriate depreciation methods. The course also provides the business owner with information that will assist them in recognizing when reported tax deductions have been taken erroneously and how to correct those mistakes with the IRS. Lastly, the course uses case studies to demonstrate all aspects of using your home as a business and provides you with a toolkit of forms and instructions.
